So Long, Farewell

On Saturday I finally said goodbye to my gallbladder. It’s been a long road (getting from there to here) involving stratospheric blood sugar levels and cancellation, but it. Is. Done.

The operation took two hours. The surgeon afterwards said my gallbladder was basically one big stone, and that he’d never seen anything like it. Me, the medical marvel yet again, heh. The first night was pure hell – I didn’t react to the anesthetic at all well and kept throwing up. Which, when you have a two inch surgical wound just above your navel, is not a fun thing.

It was between that and them trying to get my blood sugar at a reasonable level that kept me in overnight. I was having to have my levels checked every two hours, so sleep was scant. Not helpful when you’re trying to recover!

However, I escaped yesterday and, though sore and knackered, feel much better for a night in my own bed. Here’s to healing!!!
